Tamkeen participates in REHAB 2004
Knowledge Village is showcasing Tamkeen, a new initiative for vision impaired people at the Dubai International Rehabilitation Forum (REHAB 2004). The REHAB show was inaugurated at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Sunday 25th January by His Excellency Obaid Al Tayer, President of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Tamkeen is an exclusive non-profit setup to maximize the potential of vision-impaired and enable them to become more productive members of the community.

Tamkeen, which means ‘enabling’ in Arabic, has been set up as a result of the initiative of H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister. The centre will provide orientation, counseling and training programmes for vision-impaired people, tailored to match their capabilities and skills and to help them to find suitable employment.

Tamkeen’s training courses will be based on an initial assessment and an analysis of training needs for every individual attending the centre.

Tamkeen will also monitor the performance of the candidates in their new jobs and after completing their training at the centre for a period of six months to assess their performance and work.
